Will not honor guarantee

I was tricked into buying this software not knowing that I would be set up on an automatic shipment and automatic credit card charge, so I called the company within the 30 day guarantee. The representative Lisa (employee number 1495) informed me that since my son had not used the software the guarantee did not apply There is nothing in the guarantee that says he has to use it. It only says that I have to request a refund within 30 days which I did. She became beligerent and said that she is just trying to save me money. She refused to give me a refund based on the fact that I told her that my son did not use the software.

WORDSMART............MORE LIKE SCAMSMART

Wordsmart....... more like scamsmart. I can't believe they made new pay all that money and as soon as I got them CD's they were all scratched up, and wouldn't even play right. I called the company and they me (on a machine) no refunds. Can you believe that, NO REFUNDS!!!!! But my daughter is in college, and she really wanted to try it. So I get her an account on the internet, and they give her words that you learn in education. The words are in jappaneese, when i specifically pressed the English box. So I buy another account to see if they give you better words. They don't. So anyone out there, who think you want wordsmart...........you don't. Take it from somebody who has already learned there lesson.

Wordsmart is a scam

Words mart claimed that we needed to pay now. I found this urgency to be valid, for I knew my daughter was to take her PSAT that same day. I left a message and am planning to return the program, but after reading these comments I now feel this cannot be done. They gave me a one time charge of 200$ but after seeing the lies of the company, I am afraid that they will continue to charge. They told me that I will not be charged unless I am happy with the product. I was already charged immediately after. I plan to cancel my credit card and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. Has this happened to anyone else?? Any advice?? Please help??

Rude!

I was told my son needed this program to do well on the ACT test. When I told the caller that we had it covered he asks in what way. WITHOUT going into detail I said my son will just be himself! I did not think it was any of his business. The caller said, "good luck"(sarcastically) and hung up! I could not believe how rude he was and knew then tha t it had to be a scam. Did not know they had a high rating....not that I care...just hope people hold on to their money and use it wisely.

Horrible experience returning product

DO NOT BUY THESE PRODUCTS * We bought a SAT score training product from this company. Did not meet our daughters expectations. * Timely called in to return product which was not accepted unconditionally. Instead patronized us by requiring our daughter to do some test questions for full refund. * My daughter called in again to return product (with test questions answered) which was not accepted unconditionally. * While we try to return product, the company sends out additional software and keeps charging against our credit card. Whow. * Finally I called in, get again patronized and get their return policies explained of which we supposedly missed deadlines, definitely not for lack of trying.

Yelled at me!

I have received calls in the past with my other son and knew what this program was about and how they try to make you think your child has asked for help. This time I noticed the calls on the caller ID and ignored them until they started calling at the worst times. I answered and the sales rep wanted to speak to my child's mom or dad. She claimed he asked for help with the ACT. I said he did not and thanks but we were not interested. The sales representative proceeded to YELL at me that my son needed the help and I was the one not giving it to him then hung up!! Funny how I am the one who signed him up for the ACT, and I did not ask for help!!!

Lied to by company

Was told my daughter signed up for this product, LIE, my daughter never heard of them. Was told my daughter has an A+ GPA, another LIE, we don't have pluses in our grading. I am so glad I read the other reviews, I cannot understand why the BBB has given them an A plus rating!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!! It is very scary that they had my daughters name, address, phone number. One must remember that nothing is private, I wish I could find out how they were able to access this information, they are suppose to call back tomorrow and talk to me as my hubby spoke with them today....I shall find out!!

Yea, me also annymous! I asked how he got my info and he said that my son filled out a form and checked a box that said he wanted more info on the SAT's and ACT's.

I had told him that I wanted more info on how to take these tests and if there were 'practice' tests.

Well, I think there is something on there that gives them our info ! T

Male representative was rude and hung up on me

I noticed repeated caller id listing from WordsmartCorp 858200****. When I finally answered the call there was a gentleman that knew my child's name and eluded to the fact that my child had signed up for the program. He gave me his "quick talking" spill and offered me $100 discount if I signed up today. I asked if they had a web site and he provided that information to me. www.getwordsmart.com. When I explained that I would prefer to review the website prior to making a purchase. He gave some smart response and then hung up in my face.

Crooks

This company has crooked business practices. They led me to believe on the first contact that my son had wanted them to call and get set up with them. This was a lie. We never used the product sent- they insist is worth $400. Plus the so-called tutoring sessions. A complete and utter joke. WordSmart continues to charge me monthly for something that has never been utilized. I have tried repeatedly to report them. They are horrible. They need to be stopped. Please do not even answer the phone. I have warned my friends and the school district. But my hands are tied.-

Rude ripoff

Rude salesperson calling my home, despite being on a no call list. Had my child's name, my name and address and all kinds of private info. They tried to have me confirm a purchase by deception. I guess they would have mailed it, by me confirming my personal info. I insisted on NO, and when I tried to ask (politely)to be removed, they hung up on me in mid sentence....makes me sorry for being polite while they invaded my privacy. Buy the latest books from Amazon, and don't be ripped off by these rude, insolent telemarketers. Blatent rip-off. I'm furious.

Rude telemarketer at Word Smart

On a Saturday morning, I was called by WordSmart. They said they had gotten my number through a college testing and scholarship site. My son nor I have registered via the web for something. The salesman starts his pitch and I say I'm not really interested since I have software similar and my son got a good score on his first try. This guy then tells me about how a student can take the ACT 5 more times and get the same score unless I buy this product. He goes on and on about how many words a student needs to know for the test and how many the average student knows. I then say "my son has an extensive vocabulary." The salesman then tells me "Let your kid fail" and hangs up on me. I listened to him for nearly 5 minutes and he treated my like that. I might have been interested in more information via mail or web, but wasn't given that information. I will not use WordSmart for ACT prep now.

When the sales people make a comment like that and hang up, I think it won't be your son failing; this sales guy isn't meeting his sales target and will be shown the door. He's having a bad week/month.

It's a tough sale, and the usual BS about getting your number from something you participated in immediately raises people's lie detector senses.

Not a great way to start the pitch, is it?

"I'd like to tell you about this great product, so here first I'm going to lie to you straight from the start, just so you know I'm going to tell you utter *** about the refund policy if you're crazy enough to express interest in purchasing." It might be a great product, I have no idea, but with that as sales, no one will ever know.

Dishonest representative

I was informed that we had 30 days to review the product from date received. The representative said just make a note of when you received the product. We were away and had our mail held for one week. I called to cancel the order and return the product and I was told I was one day late. I explained the situation and the customer representative was rude and unwilling to let me speak with a manager. I would never recommend this product or company to anyone. They are completely unwilling to make any exceptions or work with their customers - I will ensure that leave a review everywhere I can to warn others!

Rude & call do not call #

I received a call from Wordsmart. According to my caller ID they call several times a day. My number has been on the do not call list well over the 31 days required and I checked it and it still is. The caller asked for my son's parents and knew his first name(I have no idea where they got that). I don't like the idea of perfect strangers calling my kids by their name in hopes of selling something. Then he said it was something about SAT's and when I said, "what would he need that for?", he hung up on me. WOW, class act!

Did not recieve product on hold for 30 min 8 times

Billed for a dvd which I never received. Called 7 times and was on hold for over 30 min each time. Billed for another cd called. Was on hold for 42 min before someone answered. They told me I received the cd a month ago. (never received) Told me it must have been lost in mail not their problem. I asked to cancel subscription and refund the cd I never received. They refused. Said they would send it out again. Asked to refund the charge on my account today. They said no even though it was not shipped yet. They charge before shipped?

Same thing happened to me. I did not cancel before the 30 day which is fine.

I received a disc today. I requested to cancel. they charged me for the one I received today as well as an additional one I never received last month. they will not refund me for the one I never received and will send me a replacement which I refused.

They said any discs sent out cannot be returned and I will not receive a refund. I requsted to hear my initial phone call. They said they would call in 1-2 days so I can hear it.

I wish I looked at the reviews. After I agreed to order it, my son said he never requested the product.

High Pressure Sales Pitch and No Answers

I kept getting these calls from this company and when I did not play ball by whipping out my credit card for this guy he became verbally abusive. For every question I asked about his company I received nothing but a run around and a guilt trip that I was not willing to help my child increase his SAT scores by 200 points. I have been receiving calls from this company for several months and have told this guy over and over again not to call my house and that I am on the national do not call list he insists on calling. I am really worried especially at the times he is calling my house that he is trying to get a hold of one of my kids instead of an adult who knows how to say no. Stay away from this company and if you do receive calls from them. Log on to the National Do Not Call complaints form and file one out. Not only the national one but in my state of NJ we have our own. This is nothing but a tele marketing scam. Do not be fooled by the high pressure sales pitch and whatever you do DO NOT give them a credit card number.
